        Jennifer Gleeson Blue
Nutritious Movement™ Certified Restorative Exercise Specialist
        The Resilient Body

        I've done the work.

I am still doing the work.

In fact, I've realized that this is my life's work.

Whether it's the movement I study, the books, I read, the therapy I go to, the bodywork I receive, the feelings I feel, the rituals I create, the community I seek out...All of it is supporting me in healing and deepening my relationship with the parts of me that have been cut off, injured, shamed and or in hiding.

I've dedicated myself not only to my own growth in this, but to helping others feel safe in their bodies.

I used to be scared of my body.

Childhood sexual trauma, endless and mysterious ailments and dysfunctions, a difficult childbirthing experience...I kept trying to be healthy and strong, but it always seemed as though another shoe was going to drop.

And I felt afraid, scared of my body, disillusioned and disconnected.

At the center of it all was this truth: I wasn't fully alive.

This isn't my first online course.

In 2015, I created Launch Your Resilient Life, a 4-week body alignment accelerator. Dozens of people have moved through the program since then, learning the essential movements needed to get out of pain and increase overall function. Headaches disappearing, shin splints stopping, back pain dissolving, lifestyles dramatically improved.

But many of my students and my private clients kept encountering the same thing over and over again: all of this physical work was being short-changed by an overall disconnect between the heart and the body. People were OUT of relationship with their bodies and it was getting in the way of their health. It was getting in the way of their whole lives.

I've been there. I know what it's like. And I've spent the better part of 5 years addressing this exact problem.

It was time to share my methods.

            It takes showing up.

We need to be present with ourselves. We need to acknowledge that avoiding, blaming, shaming and disconnecting may be useful coping strategies, but they are in the way of our well-being, they are in the way of our health. If what we want is be more at ease, to be relaxed, to decrease pain, to have a good relationship with our bodies, we're going to need to show up as we are and allow our bodies to do the same.

            It takes safety.

Pushing harder, going stronger, telling ourselves that we can power through is very rarely the answer to becoming more resilient, to coming home to ourselves. We need to take a look at what's REALLY going on in the context of safety. As we extend the boundaries of our safety, we can extend the boundaries of our movement and therefore extend the boundaries of our health and become empowered in our lives.

            It takes support.

We can't do it alone. Not only do we need to bring our bodies on board as our allies, we need guides, community, inspiration, tools, practices. We need support. This support is what ensures we keep going, is what normalizes our experiences for us, is what takes us to the next level.

How long have you been waiting to stop being hard on your body for how it hurts? For how it looks? For the ways it doesn't work?

How long have you been waiting to bring your body on board as an ally in getting better?

How long have you been wanting to make the jump, take the dive, feel the feelings that are stuck inside?

How long have you been waiting to go a bit deeper so you can get to the healing you've been longing for?

How long have you been waiting to be a student of your body, instead of its dictator?

How long have you been waiting to take your movement/exercise/yoga/fitness practice and meet it with your heart?

How long have you been waiting to start living in your body so that you can do whatever it is you came to do?

How long have you been waiting to feel safe? At ease? In love with your body?

HeartBody Method is structured in five modules over the course of eight weeks - and you have access to the content for as long as the course exists. Many of the videos and audios are downloadable for you and you'll receive daily inspiration via email, too!

It's time to own where you really are and to start the foundational practices you need to take you deeper. In this one-week module, we're going to spend time taking stock of the body, of the heart. And we're going to literally explore your relationship with the ground.

Your pelvis - your root - houses some of the most powerful energy available to you. This two-week module will focus on restoring connection to your root, opening you up to possibilities within and cultivating the ability to draw on your own strength and inner fire.

Ah, your core. The location of your second brain, your gut, the parts that are so deeply intertwined with the movements of survival. In this two-week module, we'll look at how you are responding to life, how your physical alignment mirrors your inner core alignment. And will begin to unravel what's held there.

What does it mean that the location of our hearts is generally masked by so much tension? In this final two-week module, we explore the range of motion in the chest and the back...the range of motion of the heart, deepening our sense of safety and opening ourselves up to what our hearts have to teach us.

Our health is largely defined by our experience of the worlds we inhabit. This one-week module allows us the opportunity to look at our truth, to assess our environment and the ways we move within it and invites a more authentic relationship.

Tell me: what if this doesn't work for you? What if you go to all of this trouble, spend all of this time and effort getting into your HeartBody and it doesn't fix problem A, B or C? I encourage you to consider two things:

What are you hoping/expecting will happen for you?

What are the downsides of exploring a heart-centered approach to whole-body movement?

Of course, nothing works for everyone.

HeartBody Method is totally NOT for you if:

            • You want to keep hating your body.
            • You've never felt that glimmer of hope that something more is possible for you.
            • You are committed to staying the same.
            • You refuse to take responsibility for your actions.
            • You want a trainer who will berate you, scold you and push you beyond your point of safety.
            • You don't believe your whole being is an interconnected system.
            • You don't want to try anything new.
            • You hate to exercise and explore movement.
            • You refuse to feel your feelings.
            • You dislike online learning.

HeartBody Method is DEFINITELY for you if:

            • You are HeartBody curious. 🙂
            • You are already exploring how you're a system and not a bunch of disconnected parts.
            • You are open to being challenged.
            • You are intrinsically motivated - you want this!
            • You are willing to change.
            • You believe your pain and dysfunction have lessons to teach you.
            • You want to learn those lessons.
            • You are willing to feel your feelings and open to feeling more.
            • You are open to trying new movements and lifestyle habits.
            • You have time and energy to dedicate to this journey.
            • You want a guide, a support, a partner to walk with you.
            • You don't want to spend years fluffing around, waiting to start living.
            • You like to learn online.
            • You feel a sense of connection with me and this work.

Here's where you need to be if you're ready to take this heart-centered journey of whole-body movement:

            • I understand that I am getting an 8-week course designed to take me to new places in my health, new places in my heart, new places in my life
            • If I do the work, if I keep showing up, if I make use of this method, I understand that my life is bound to change
            • I take full responsibility for what I put into this experience and I know that not every process is right for everyone
            • I will be getting access to five modules, with weekly movement videos, "in the world" lessons and explorations, alignment and exercise instructions, guided audio meditations and writing/art/movement prompts
            • PLUS I get daily inspirational emails to give me nourishment for the journey
            • PLUS I get access to Stress, Trauma & the Resilient Body

            Coming Again October 2020

This work is so central to my life, to the way I live in and see the world.

In some ways, my most significant credentials center on the fact that I have been exploring this path for years. I've shown up to myself in bold and powerful ways. I keep pressing my own boundaries, finding that they extend when I offer love and give different stimuli. I play around with movement, I spend a lot of time exploring how things feel in my body. And I go to therapy and trauma-sensitive yoga retreats. I have deep bodywork done, I practice Aware Parenting, I outside a lot, I am open to challenge and change and growth.

And then there are my students and clients. In 2006 I certified as a life coach and spent the better part of a decade helping them get to the stuff that matters. When I began to study alignment and corrective exercises, I took that experience and brought it into this work. The people I work with stop peeing their pants and they climb literal mountains and have easier births. And they start to become their own body experts - knowing what movements they need, knowing how to take care of themselves, knowing where to turn when they are freaking out. You can get a sense for this work over at my main site, The Resilient Body.

Of course, this comes with credentials and initials and whatnot. I am a Nutritious Movement™ Certified Restorative Exercise Specialist and am now part of the teaching staff for new, certifying students. I hold a certificate in life coaching from Coach University and have been trained in Restorative Breathing™. I make daily use of my bachelors in communication studies, too. 😉

Additionally, I read books on trauma and anatomy and I adore fiction and Harper's Magazine. I spend a lot of time with my son and I co-parent with my husband, to whom I've been hitched since 2002. I make use of the weekly farmer's market, I climb trees in the neighborhood, I eat an extensive amount of super dark chocolate and I count on naturopathy, acupuncture, visceral manipulation, laughter and a ton of my own movement practice to keep me well.

I maintain a playlist of current pop music to which I unabashedly throw regular dance parties in order to nurture my inner 13 year old.

            • q-iconWhen does the course start?

You can start as soon as you are ready! All the of the content is ready for you and you can go at your own pace or follow the emails that introduce each module. If you’re joining for one of the occasional live rounds, look for the start date elsewhere on this page. 🙂

            • q-iconCan I take this course anytime?

Yup! Since all of the content is available for you, it’s a matter of you setting aside time in your life to deepen your experience of your HeartBody. I will likely do “live” rounds from time to time where we move through elements together, but the material is ready for you now!

            • q-iconHow long does it run?

The course was originally designed to run over the course of 8 weeks, give or take. I recommend allowing at least 12 weeks, so you can take breaks between modules and allow for time to do the prep work. You can also move at your own pace, too.

            • q-iconWhen will the live webcasts be?

The live webcasts (Movement Coaching) happened in the first live round and are included as recordings in the course page. They are filled with a wealth of useful information and I highly recommend you spend time in them.

            • q-iconWhat if I can't get to it all in a week?

That’s totally fine. I really respect that we each have our own timing and processes and that we’ll get what we need when we need it. And life happens. The course is yours as long as it exists online and so you can always pick up the pace when you are ready. Also know that while I have focused on delivering really rich, useful material, I also have worked to keep it manageable.

            • q-iconHow long will I have access to the course?

As long as it exists, which I imagine will at least be for many, many years. 🙂

            • q-iconIs there a 1:1 upgrade option?

At this time, no. Occasionally spaces open up in my private practice and I encourage you to reach out to me if you think you’d like to explore that. Visit The Resilient Body for more information.

            • q-iconWhen will I get access to the content?

              Immediately!

            • q-iconI'm already a yoga/movement/fitness teacher. How will this help me be a better teacher?

I firmly believe that we NEED to be in touch with our own HeartBodies prior to supporting others in this journey. The more work you can do to improve the working relationship you have with your body, moving into a place of heart-centeredness and bringing with you the movement tools you’ll acquire, the more you’ll have to offer your students and clients.

            • q-iconWhat if I can't do the exercises?

Most people will be able to do all of the exercises and movement explorations I offer here. For the rest – be it do to injury, pain, pregnancy or something else – there will be modifications offered as needed. More than being able to execute any particular exercise in any particular way, I want for you to have a more fluent conversation with your body about where it is, about what it needs, about where you might be traveling together. The private Facebook group will be the place to ask about and receive modifications as needed.

            • q-iconHow much will I have to change?

Well, now, that depends. 🙂 My hope is that any change that emerges for you comes from a place of desire and ease and not from a place of forcefulness and “shoulds.” I will certainly be recommending new ways to approach the way you use your body throughout your day and offering new exercises to incorporate. And I’ll certainly provide you with some new beliefs and paradigms to play around with. You get to decide what to incorporate, what to set aside.

            • q-iconIs this like psychotherapy?

Nope. Or maybe it depends on how you understand psychotherapy. I am definitely not a psychotherapist. That being said, if you commit to the journey, I imagine HeartBody work will help improve the health of your psyche, just like it’ll help improve the health of your body, of your heart. It may be a really wise idea for you to have access to a really good support system as you move through this work, though, since doing deep HeartBody work can certainly bring up deep stuff. I see my own somatic-oriented therapist weekly and, while it is in no way a replacement for the work I am teaching in HBM, it is a wonderful adjunct support element.

            • q-iconI have a very specific physical problem (knee osteoarthritis, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti). Will this course address that?

This course is not intended to diagnose or treat any specific medical condition. This course IS intended to bring you INTO your body so that you can have a better relationship with any medical conditions and so that you can be empowered to make better decisions about how to get the kind of care you need. By bringing the body on board as an ally, you will have a much clearer view of what you need. At the same time time, tending to your daily movements; offering your body new alignment and corrective exercises; and staying present with the emotional reality of your experience definitely impacts health. In fact, they are foundational and I would expect you to feel better, to move better, to see improvements.

            • q-iconWhat equipment is required for this course?

You may not need anything special if you want to be extra resourceful and yet I would still recommend some things: a half foam roller, bolsters/pillows/firm cushions; yoga block, a 6-18 inch squishy exercise ball, blankets, art supplies, two tennis balls, massage oil, some floor space. And, of course, a computer/phone/tablet with a good internet connection.

            • q-iconI have a lot of anger and resentment toward my body. Will that go away?

I find that we have many layers of anger and resentment toward our bodies. I would imagine that through this course, you will start to unravel some of those layers, releasing them into the ether, freeing yourself to go even deeper. Where, yes, you may find more layers!

            • q-iconWhat if I'm too afraid?

We’re all too afraid! 🙂 But really, I work hard to be a safe person, to keep the container safe, to allow you room to explore your boundaries gently. You won’t need to go to any internal place you’d rather not and you can opt out of any movements that you’re just not ready for. To some degree, being too afraid sometimes becomes a matter of either/or. Are you more afraid of walking this path? Or are you more afraid of what will happen if you don’t? Only you can answer that.

            • q-iconWon't I be able to just figure this out on my own?

Oh man, I wish that were true. I wasted a lot of time in my life trying to figure everything out on my own. The truth is that we need guides, we need support, we need people who’ve already been exploring the path. That’s what I am coming to you with. I am bringing my journey and saying, “Look here, move this way, try this!” This enables you to move faster, go deeper, have the support you need to make real, lasting change.

            • q-iconHow much does it cost?

The course costs $397. Once you purchase the course, you get lifetime access to what is here as well as additional live round participation and anything else that gets added to the course. Oh, and you can do a payment plan, too, if that works better for you.

If you have a question that has gone unanswered, feel free to send it my way: jennifer@theresilientbody.com.
